The Ferrari 348TB is the last car that was designed under the direction of the great Enzo Ferrari, an end of an era in many ways.
Aesthetically, when it was released in 1989, it perfectly distilled what was best about the 1980s: from the low, wide, angular, and menacing shape, to the famous side strakes, pop-up headlights, and rear slats.
On the inside, the square dash, and yellow dials instantly take you back, but the pièce de résistance is the dog-leg, five-speed transmission with the gated shifter. There is no feeling as satisfying as shifting gears with the feel of a bolt-action rifle – that alone is worththe price of admission.
Technicaly, it also marks the end of an era, as being the last truly analog Ferrari, with the mechanical, unassisted steering carving the road with the precision of a surgeon’s scalpel. Combining that with the Formula One howl of the flat-plane crank V8, one reaches the pantheon of driving perfection.
